The Art of the Story

As a triptych is a work of art in three parts, a three act play is a story of transformation from one state to another,
an initial state into a changed state.

To the artist, if the viewer isn’t somehow moved, or the perceptions or experiences of the subject matter broadened, what is the point in the first place? Good art shouldn’t just entertain us repeatedly, but rather, allow for a never ending and ongoing interpretation of that art as the viewer, themselves, evolve in their own conscious awareness and of perception of that which they see. This is precisely what makes art timeless and eternal.

The art doesn’t change, WE change.

This special creation includes three,  11” x 14” or 11” x 15” images , signed and double matted to 16” x 20” and presented as a thematic set.

Swan Valley Autumn Portrait

Tucked into the Southeast corner of Southern Idaho, Swan Valley is a landscape of grasslands, mountains, and forests, populated with elegant aspen stands, that come alive in the autumn. This collection reflects several days of unhurried wandering through this magical place, while stopping to capture the special visions of autumn here, now expressed in its full glory.

Ohanapecosh River Abstracts

Flowing along in a valley on the eastern boundary of Mt. Rainier National Park, this river is a virtual kaleidoscope of richly colored rocks laying scattered in groupings, a painting of sorts, as they are often warped and molded by the moving water that washes of it … a living painting in motion. These are my favorite captures of their miraculous and vivid expression

Etched in Time

Captured in the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada, these three images are a vision of a place molded and sculpted by the erosional forces of nature: wind, rain, snow, and sunlight over eons of time. Its a beauty that bares her soul to the world, all the time, while her beauty continues to evolve however slowly and imperceptibly to the human eye.

Paradise River Waterfall

Tucked away, almost hidden in the forest, Paradise Falls in Mt. Rainier National Park, sings her song in solitude, to all in the forest nearby that may hear it. Walk by without attention and you may miss her, her water flowing down like strands of silken hair. In mindfulness, you will discover her and she will sing for you, that you may rest and refresh in quietude.

Art in The Desert

Joshua Tree National Monument in Southern California, is an ancient landscape of statuesque Joshua Trees and time sculpted masses of monzogranite. I created this series during a long winter’s day of wandering in and around these massive formations, home to a scattering of yucca plants and desert grasses. They struck me as literal works of art, each a unique still life, of variations of the etched rocks and the plants that have made this their home. It was a magical day and I am pleased to share them with you.
